All I knew about Colombia was Shakira, drug cartels, the usual stuff. I was blown away when I landed in Bogota. One of the impressive things about the city is their public bus system. Large roads of the city have Rapid Bus system where the buses run frequently. Bus stations indicate ETA and the route. They have a card ‘tu llave’ which you can use to load money and pay for the bus tickets.
I traveled several times from Chapinero to La Candeleria and back.
I learnt that they favored this over a metro. The traffic on the roads is still pathetic. I wonder if this helped the city or not.
